Callisia soconuscensis is a sprawling creeping plant with leaves growing closely-packed at the end of the stems. The ‘Dragon Tail’ cultivar is the most common form of the species in cultivaiton, with leaves that become edged with red in bright light.

Callisia soconuscensis is sometimes labelled with its botanical synonym, Callisia congesta. It is not a Tradescantia, but a cousin in the same family – Commelinaceae.
