Tradescantia zebrina ‘Purpusii’

£1.50

Tradescantia zebrina is a trailing tropical plant with speckled stems and usually silver bands on the leaves. ‘Purpusii’ is an old but unusual cultivar with no silver on the leaves at all. Instead they are uniform olive-green, darkening to purple in intense light.

Description

Check out this page for more information about ordering cuttings.

The name ‘Purpusii’ has recently become misused to sell many common purple-and-silver striped cultivars. The true ‘Purpusii’ is a very old plant which is recognisable by its lack of silver bands. Tradescantias are commonly known as inchplants, spiderworts, wandering dudes, and dayflowers. For more information about plant naming and identification, take a look at the main Tradescantia Hub website.
