Tradescantia zebrina is a trailing tropical plant with speckled stems and silver bands on the leaves. The ‘Deep Purple’ cultivar is an usual type which originated from the USA. Its leaves have a purple background colour and silver bands which become overlaid with purple as they mature. It sometimes forms small pinkish-purple flowers.
