Tradescantia pallida ‘Jade King’

Tradescantia pallida is a large sprawling plant with thick succulent stems. The ‘Jade King’ cultivar was originally collected from the wild in Texas, and registered in 2023. It has rounded olive-green leaves which become stained very slightly purple in intense light. In summer it forms light purple flowers.

‘Jade King’ is often mislabelled as the species T. brevifolia or T. buckleyi, but is now accepted as T. pallida. It is sometimes simply described as “wild type” or “wild green”. Tradescantias are commonly known as inchplants, spiderworts, wandering dudes, and dayflowers.
